President of the Private Security Guards Association of Ghana (PSGAG), Roland Obibah Mensah, has urged government to include private security guards in the 24-hour economy initiative.
According to Obibah Mensah, Security is the heartbeat of a functioning economy.
“To effectively run a 24-hour economy, security is very key and vital. Given the current security landscape, private security guards are crucial in ensuring the safety of citizens and businesses alike.”
He emphasized that, Private security guards, are already embedded in countless establishments across the country, adding that, they offer real-time vigilance that’s indispensable for sustaining operations during night and early morning shifts.
Obibah Mensah argued that sidelining these professionals in such a transformative national policy would be a missed opportunity, both economically and strategically.
“The three-shift system will require more security personnel, and we’re ready to step up. By including us in the recruitment process and leveraging our expertise, the government can enhance security and promote economic growth.”
