The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has strongly criticized the government for allegedly distributing expired rice to senior high schools.

This revelation was made by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who disclosed that the expired rice was rebagged and its expiry date extended before being supplied to schools. Addressing the chiefs and people of Sorbelle in the Sissala West Constituency during her campaign tour of the Upper West Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang condemned the incident as both shameful and insensitive.

She expressed disbelief that the government would knowingly endanger the health of students by providing unwholesome food. According to her, senior high school students deserve better and should not be subjected to such treatment.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also criticized the government for the perceived decline in Ghana’s education sector under the New Patriotic Party (NPP). She assured the electorate that an NDC government would prioritize restoring the quality of education and addressing the sector’s challenges.

she expressed concern over the abandonment of road projects in the Sissala area, which were initiated under the former Mahama administration. She urged voters to vote against the NPP in the upcoming elections to ensure the completion of these projects and others that have been left unfinished.
