General Overseer of the Glorious Wave Church, Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi, has sued CEO of Oxy FM, Alfred Kwame Larbi popularly known as DJ Oxygen for defamation. Media firms, Rainbow Radio and Ghanaweb were also sued.
DJ Oxy in an interview on Rainbow radio claimed that Prophet Badu Kobi gave him a photograph of a man with a striking resemblance to President Nana Addo.
The purpose was to publicly say that the man was an illegitimate son of President Nana Addo. This was in exchange for favours including a private jet from then President Mahama. But the man of God refuted the allegations and promised to sue.
The Plaintiff’s claim is for: Compensatory damages not excluding aggravated damages, exemplary and special damages for defamation to be assessed by the court. He is also seeking general damages for all reasonable expenses incurred by Plaintiff including court costs and reasonable and necessary legal fees.
He is also seeking an order of court upon the defendants to publicly retract the defamatory statements and publications and render unqualified apology to the Plaintiff clearly stating that all the allegations levelled against Plaintiff are false through the same medium as that was used to defame the Plaintiff and publish same on all other networks as shall be directed by the court and within a time limit set by court.
The Plaintiff is also seeking an injunction restraining the defendants and each of them whether by themselves, their servants, employees, agents, privies, representatives or otherwise from further making/airing/transmitting or publishing/propagating such defamatory statements as specified in the statement of claim or any other defamatory statements against the Plaintiff.’’
