Director of Communications for the Dr. Bawumia Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has called for the immediate prosecution of Joseph Dery, a Ballot Issuer in the Kintampo South Constituency who has been arrested for electoral offenses, specifically tearing off the picture of the NPP’s candidate on the ballot before handing to voters.

Miracles, in a press briefing at the Campaign Office of the NPP described the offense as unpardonable entreating the police to immediately prosecute the culprit to serve as a deterrent to others.

According to a statement from the Ghana Police Service, the said EC Officer has been apprehended awaiting investigations and subsequent prosecution. Joseph Dery is alleged to have issued about 15 defective ballots to voters.

The act, Dennis Miracles Aboagye says, is a desperate attempt by the National Democratic Congress to disrupt the processes leading to the eventual victory of the New Patriotic party candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

He says the NPP supports the actions taken by the Ghana Police Service and further commended the Electoral Commission for its swift actions taken on matters bordering on electoral offenses.
