Experienced marriage counselor, Mrs. Ellen Gyamerah-Ako, has advised parents and guardians against handing over costly bride price to the men who seek their daughters’ hand in marriage.
She emphasized that the couple should be considered, and the list should be made up of only the essentials.
“This goes to the parents of the ladies; they give long and expensive lists to the men to bring before accepting them to marry their daughters making it look like they are selling their daughters off to them,” she said this during the counseling session of the 2023 HappyFM Mass wedding.
She advised parents to consider the couples and trim the list as they are starting a new life together, and they would require a lot for that.
“If we do this and give them our blessings instead, most of these marriages will prosper as we wish and will make us proud to the glory of God,” she noted.
