Retrenched Railway Workers Association, comprising over 674 former railway employees, have called on the government to urgently settle the GHS 55 million arrears owed them.

The workers have expressed grave concern, stating that the financial struggles resulting from the unpaid arrears have caused severe hardship, with some members losing their lives as a result of stress and health complications.

The association highlighted the urgency of the situation, emphasizing that around 120 workers have already passed away, with many others facing dire health challenges due to the ongoing financial crisis. The workers are appealing to the government to step in and settle the arrears as a matter of urgency to prevent further loss of life and suffering.

The members of the association are desperate for a solution, calling for immediate action to ensure that the funds owed them are paid. They argue that the delay in receiving their dues is taking a heavy toll on their wellbeing, and they are hopeful that the government will intervene quickly to address their plight.

As the situation grows increasingly dire, the retrenched railway workers are appealing to the nation to understand their predicament and the urgent need for the government to act before it is too late.
