The Ministry of Roads and Highways has assured the public that it will collaborate with relevant state institutions to conduct a thorough investigation into the blasting accident that resulted in fatalities and injuries at the Kasoa-Winneba Road Dualization Project site in Budumburam, Central Region.

The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

A statement signed by Head of the Public Relations Unit, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, confirmed that investigations have begun to determine the cause of the accident and noted that the Ministry is working closely with relevant institutions, including the Ghana Police Service and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), to verify the number of casualties and ensure the injured receive proper care.

The statement also highlighted that, prior to this unfortunate event, the contractor had successfully conducted 21 controlled blasting exercises at the same site without any incident, in collaboration with NADMO and the Ghana Police Service.

The Ministry assured the public that it will fully cooperate with state institutions to conduct a thorough investigation and will share the findings once available.
