The Hospital Administrator at St. Gregory Hospital, Mattias Ayegre-Anaba, has confirmed that three people lost their lives and 39 others were injured in a devastating explosion on the Kasoa-Buduburam highway.

The incident occurred when a construction company blasting rocks at Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region sparked the explosion. The blast resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, with 42 victims rushed to St. Gregory Hospital for treatment.

According to Mr. Ayegre-Anaba, two critically injured patients have been transferred to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for further treatment, while another two patients have been sent to Winneba Trauma Hospital. Currently, 27 patients, comprising 18 females and 9 males, are in stable condition and responding well to treatment at St. Gregory Hospital.

The hospital administrator urged the public to refrain from speculating about the number of fatalities and instead, direct inquiries to the hospital administration for accurate information.

This tragic incident highlights the importance of prioritizing safety measures in construction projects to prevent such devastating losses.
