On Thursday, May 16 2020, Lynx entertainment signee, Kidi was reprimanded on live radio for appearing late for an interview on an Accra-based radio station.

The interview was subsequently cancelled because it was not the first time the artiste had appeared late for an interview on the same show.

This act has stirred up a debate amongst Ghanaians with some supporting the radio presenter for cancelling the interview whilst others have spoken against his approach. Insisting that he could have done it in a more refined way.

Award-winning rapper, Donzy has asserted that radio presenters are selective when it comes to artistes and believes that Sarkodie and Shatta Wale would have never been treated the way Kidi was disrespected should they have appeared late to the same interview.

Speaking in an interview on Happy 98.9 FM’s ‘Showbiz Xtra’ with Doctar Cann, the musician said, “If it was Shatta Wale or Sarkodie, that wouldn’t have happened to them. Even if the presenter had 5 minutes of their time, he would have been happy because of their mileage.”

According to him, not only do artistes sometimes appear on interviews late, but even radio hosts themselves also do keep artistes waiting and do not start interviews on time. Donzy revealed that he has gone for interviews which did not start on time on numerous occasions. “So if I also go for interviews early and they don’t start on time, should I also leave?” he asked.

He acknowledged that the relationship between artistes and entertainment show hosts has a positive correlation between both parties depending on each other and if ‘the Kidi situation’ or worse happens, it can be sorted out off air.

The ‘Club’ hitmaker reiterated, “I have never heard an artiste fight a presenter for wasting his time ever”. He noted that industry players must be there for each other and that such happenings are not healthy for the already fragile industry.

Donzy is out with a new single titled ‘Odehyie’ featuring ‘Nothing I Get’ hitmaker, Fameye.
