Scottish Borders Council has launched new legal action to evict three individuals claiming to represent the “Kingdom of Kubala” after they set up a fresh encampment near Jedburgh, just metres from the site of their earlier removal.

Ghanaian national Kofi Offeh, Zimbabwean-born Jean Gasho, and American Kaura Taylor were evicted by sheriff officers on Tuesday morning from private woodland.

Hours later, they relocated across a wire fence onto land believed to be council-owned.

Council officials say the group is trespassing and vow to pursue legal remedies.

“Nobody is above the law. We will not cease until this matter is resolved.”said Deputy Leader Scott Hamilton.

The trio, who claim ancestral rights to the land, have refused offers of housing and support, and continue to share updates with a growing online following.
