Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Studies have shown that, tramadol can slow or stop your breathing, and may be habit-forming or other person using the medicine without a prescription.
However, the abuse of the drug is getting out of hand among the youths in Ghana. Some individuals mix the drug with energy drinks and other alcoholic beverages or take them raw as s£xual enhancers.
There have been several reported cases of deaths among some young people who have abused the drug. It’s in this light that Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. who’s famously known as Shatta Wale has taken it upon himself to sensitise people especially his fans on the repercussions of Tramadol abuse.
In a post on Facebook, the controversial Dancehall artiste called on the youth not excluding his fans who’re rumoured to be victims of the situation to desist from abusing drugs especially Tramadol. According to him, the youth should rather focus their energy on making life better for themselves rather than abusing drugs which does not bring them anything but pain and shame.
“This Tramol thing must stop ..I bore waaaa ..and those artiste who are teaching their fans tramol life should stop ..Ghetto youth community is not for the Government ..is for Shatta wale …Who wanna join for this fight .. #Drugabusewe can put it to an End …Ghetto youth rise up and make the money ..That’s all mama needs”, Shatta Wale posted via Facebook.
But then, Shatta Wale is not the first celebrity to caution the youth about the damming effects of Tramadol as several celebrities have joined the fight in order to keep the Ghanaian youth alive including Samini. However, we’re optimistic about fruitful outcome now that Shatta Wale has joined hands to fight drug abuse.
