Shatta Wale spoilt the night for everybody- George Quaye

Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse, George Quaye, has laid the blame of the brawl that occurred on the stage of the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) squarely at the doorsteps of Shatta Wale.

‘’Shatta Wale spoilt the night for everybody. Shatta Wale had no right to be on that stage. Alcohol and drugs were on display at the auditorium,’’ he stated.

George Quaye made these comments in reaction to a question posed by the sit in host of Happy FM’s ‘Epa hoa Daben’ Dr. Cann, about the security situation at the Dome during the 20th edition of VGMA.

‘’Charterhouse worked so hard to celebrate musicians, but it wasn’t a journalist or an actor who messed the event up. Unfortunately, it was a musician that messed up the event,’’ he bemoaned.

‘’There were close to 85 security personnel made up of Police Officers and private security personnel. There was security everywhere in and around the auditorium. Going forward, if you want the kind of security that makes it impossible for audiences to dance that is what we will give you. So when the door is locked we cannot even go and pee,’’ he predicted.

He also enumerated some structures that was put in place to curb lawlessness. ‘’When you look at the ticket, we wrote boldly on it that nobody should go on stage except those whose names are mentioned. So Shatta shouldn’t have gone on that stage,’’ he reiterated.

Shatta Wale and a host of his ‘SM fans’ thronged the stage just as Stonebwoy was about to deliver his acceptance speech for the award resulting in the clash of the two camps. It’s unclear what Shatta Wale’s intentions were considering the fact that the two, over the years, have hardly seen eye to eye. But according to the ‘I know my level’ hitmaker, he went on stage to solidarize with his rival, Stonebwoy.

In the course of the confusion and flying punches on stage, Stonebwoy was seen drawing a gun.
Stonebwoy subsequently rendered an apology for his reaction saying he was provoked by Shatta Wale. The two artistes however, have been arrested by the police.
