Residents of the Ashanti Region have been instructed to stay indoors on the night of Thursday, September 18, 2025, as the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, reach a climax.
In line with centuries-old Asante royal traditions, all shops, social gatherings, and public activities will come to a complete halt to allow for the sacred burial at Bremang, the royal cemetery.
The directive, issued by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, underscores the solemnity required during the burial of a King or Queen Mother. On that night, streets are expected to be deserted, shops shuttered, and households in silence as the kingdom pays its final respects to the revered matriarch.
Security will be been heightened, with the Manhyia Palace warning that no movement, gatherings, or outdoor activities will be permitted from dusk to dawn.
The royal burial rites, which will commence on September 14, will conclude with the burial on September 18, 2025.
