SOCALOCA has unveiled its innovative mobile application aimed at empowering aspiring footballers and transforming the way the game is organized and administered.

The launch event, held in partnership with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at the UDS Guest House in Accra, today, July 17, 2024, marked a significant milestone in SOCALOCA’s mission to democratize football and provide equal access to opportunities for players, coaches, and clubs.

“SOCALOCA is not just an investor, we are an enabler. We want to elevate Ghanaian and African football. We have the same challenges across Africa, and our goal is to become the primary drivers of the football economy because that is how the football works,” said Lionel Foy, CEO and Founder of SOCALOCA.

The app, which is available worldwide on the Google and Apple stores, offers a comprehensive suite of features that cater to the diverse needs of the football community. From creating personal and team profiles to organizing and managing tournaments, SOCALOCA aims to digitize and streamline the entire football ecosystem.

“Majority of our clubs have not seen the need to invest in platforms like this [SOCALOCA], but elsewhere, the information is readily available because they have invested in multifaceted platforms to expose and market their talents,” acknowledged Henry Asante Twum, the GFA Communications Director.

One of the key objectives of SOCALOCA is to address the longstanding challenge of tracking and developing football talent across Ghana and Africa. As Lionel Foy explained, “It has been difficult for the GFA to keep track of everyone who plays football in Ghana, but in Europe, they know every footballer whether professionally or not. The Sports policy being developed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the GFA revolves around Data, and in SOCALOCA, it will allow football Associations not only in Ghana but in Africa to look at its landscape.”

According to the SOCALOCA website, the platform is currently used in 11 countries by 5,000 footballers, 900 teams, and 40 tournaments, showcasing its growing reach and impact. The company’s mission is to “provide a suite of self-service tools which then help to ‘organize football’ within a country,” empowering players, fans, coaches, and administrators alike.

With the launch of the SOCALOCA app, the future of Ghana and African football looks brighter than ever, as the platform promises to unearth and elevate the continent’s vast pool of talents, while streamlining the management and organization of the beautiful game.
