Ghanaian and Phoenix Rising Star Solomon Asante is delighted with his team’s win against El Paso Locomotive in the USL Championship play-off semi-finals on Sunday and is hoping to win the title in the final.
Phoenix Rising won the game through the penalty shootout to book a place in the USL Championship final after the game had ended 1-1 after regulation time at the Casino Arizona field.
The penalty shoot-out ended 4-2 in favour of Phoenix.
Speaking to Happy Sports after the game, Solomon Asante said, “I am very happy we have won the game. It has been a difficult season for us. Some of our players were infected with COVID-19.
“Our assistant coach also left the team to join Newcastle United in the summer. As captain I am very happy we won the semi-final game and we are going to prepare ahead of the final game against Tampa Bay Rowie”.
Phoenix Rising will face off with Tampa Bay Rowie in the final of USL Championship at the Al Lang Stadium.
