President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has addressed the delayed reconstruction of the La General Hospital, assuring the public of alternative source of funding and accelerated progress on the project.

The La General Hospital, which was demolished in July 2020 due to structural integrity issues, has been a focal point of concern for residents awaiting its reconstruction.

Despite the initial groundbreaking ceremony held in August 2020, the project has encountered setbacks, leading to growing frustration among the local community.

President Akufo-Addo acknowledged these concerns
in his State of the Nation Address delivered on Tuesday, February 27, revealing that an alternative source of funding has been secured to expedite the completion of the Hospital.

He announced that construction work has already commenced, with a projected timeline of 28 months.

The President’s assurance of alternative funding and accelerated construction efforts comes in response to public outcry over the prolonged delay in rebuilding the vital healthcare facility. Residents have expressed outrage over the slow progress, highlighting the urgent need for improved healthcare infrastructure in the area.
