Southern Command continues with motivation scheme

As one good turn deserves another, so has the foremost formation under the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) – Southern Command (S\COMD), reciprocated great performances put forth by six personnel of the Command by awarding them with leisure trips to Kenya and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Six personnel – two officers and four soldiers – from the Command, embarked on a weeklong leisure trip from Monday January 21st to Monday January 28th, 2019, firstly on a day’s trip to Kenya (Nairobi City Tour, Giraffe Center and Carnivore Center) and then in the Emirates (Dubai City Tour and Desert Safari).

The personnel who went on the trip were Major (Maj) Ishmael Quartey-Neequaye – excellence as Staff Officer at Command Headquarters, Captain (Capt) Albert Adjartey Martey – Overall Best Firer at the 2018 Inter Services Shooting Competition and 2018 Army Inter Formation/Command Shooting Competition.

Cpl Mark Kofie was adjudged Best Male Sports Personality at Army Inter Formation/Command Sports Competition, (L/Cpl) Eugenia Adjei – Best Female Firer at Inter Services Shooting Contest and Army Inter Formation/Command Shooting Competition.

The rest were (L/Cpl) Esther Afedzie – Best Female Sports Personality at Army Inter Formation/Command Sports Contest and Private (Pte) Zeinab Abdul-Rahman – Overall Best Sports Personality at Army Inter Formation/Command Sports Competition.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), S/COMD – Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Abraham Yeboah Nsiah, was personally at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), together with his able Command Operations Officer (COO) – Colonel (Col) George Sam and some other staff officers.

General Yeboah Nsiah urged the team to keep the image of Ghana high and intact during their trip as they enjoy themselves.

Speaking to the media, the General also used the opportunity to speak to all under his Command to endeavor to do their best for the nation by serving the Command dedicatedly and with all their skills and emphasized that the policy of motivation to inspire best output is good and would continue under his leadership.

Upon their return from the trip, the soldiers were quite appreciative of the opportunity and urged their colleagues to give off their best and in so doing, they would be rewarded appropriately.

Also present at the airport were the CO, Fifth Battalion of Infantry (5BN) – Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Seth Odei, the Commanders-Rear of the First Battalion of Infantry (1BN) and 64 Infantry Regiment – Maj Daniel Ampadu and Maj Agyemang, respectively.
