The finals began with an unusual twist. The Knights were awarded Game 1 by technical forfeiture after a uniform infraction involving the opposing team, Tusk.
According to official reports, both teams arrived at the venue in black uniforms, leading to a color clash. Despite being given time and an additional grace period to change, Tusk was unable to produce their alternate jerseys, prompting officials to award the Knights a win in line with FIBA Official Basketball Rules 2024 (Article 4.3.3, Article 20).
In a statement, the Spintex Knights Sporting Club reaffirmed their commitment to professionalism and fair play:
“While this outcome was not how we hoped to begin the finals, we remain dedicated to upholding the integrity and spirit of the game. Our club’s foundation is built on respect for the rules, and we’ll continue to embody those values on and off the court.”
“We extend our appreciation to our fans for their unwavering passion. Your energy fuels our excellence, and we’ll keep striving to make you proud every time we step on the court.”
