Fast-growing restaurant chain, Starbites has put smiles on the faces of underprivileged children at the Kaya ChildCare Centre as part of their commitment to society.

A variety of hot and well-packaged meals were delivered to the centre for three consecutive days; 14th,15th and 16th April,2021. The kind gesture which was met with all joy from the children and staff according to Deborah Andoh, Deputy CEO of Starbites, will continually be done until Kaya ChildCare Centre becomes self-sufficient.

“We are in the food industry and our main aim is to provide good food. Our company’s alignment with Kaya ChildCare resonates with our ideals as we have over the years supported a number charity organizations. During yuletide seasons, Starbites goes to concentrated areas to feed the less privileged.  The move is also in line with the restaurant’s brand promise to give comfort to Ghanaians, especially the underprivileged, during these hard times.”

On her part Starbites Marketing Manager, Lorraine, revealed that the Starbites “When You Eat, They Eat” campaign which debuted this Easter, will run every holiday season.  Under the “When You, Eat They Eat” campaign, a percentage of all purchases at Starbites will go to the children and other activities which are geared towards raising funds for the children at the Center this year.

She called on other corporate organizations and individuals to join them extend a helping hand to the underprivileged.

The Ghanaian owned Starbites brand, which is the first ISO accredited restaurant, operates under three concepts namely Starbites Restaurants in Accra, Tema and Kumasi, Starbites Food To-Go (First of which is in Ashale Botwe) and Starbites Express also in Accra and Kumasi. These avenues continue to provide customers with finger-licking foods such as pastries, beverages and hot meals under the strict adherence of its operating principles; Quality, Service, Cleanliness & Value.

In commending the kind gesture shown, Evenly Kwofie, Centre Manager for Kaya Childcare thanked Starbites for its gesture and like Oliver Twist, asked for more and appealed to corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the vulnerable.

She added that “Kaya Childcare exists to stop the cycle of poverty by ensuring the child does not miss out on their development during the most critical early years of their life.”

Kaya ChildCare provides quality early childhood education to the children of Kayayei in Accra because they believe every child, irrespective of their background deserves a good foundation for education.

They work hand-in-hand with the Kayayei mothers in their effort to raise a child while living on less than USD 1 a day in urban poverty.

They also provide a safe space for the child away from the busy market where the mother works, to allow the mothers have the peace of mind to grow their businesses.
