The Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Frank Asiedu Bekoe affectionately known as Protozoa, has visited communities affected by a severe rainstorm that struck the area on Friday, May 9, 2025.
The MP, accompanied by officials from the Suhum office of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), undertook a tour of the affected zones to assess the scale of destruction and offer his support.
The storm, which followed days of intense rainfall, caused extensive damage to homes and left numerous residents displaced. During his visit, Protozoa expressed deep concern over the suffering of his constituents and offered words of comfort and solidarity.
“This is a painful moment for many of our people. I have come to stand with you, not just as your MP, but as a brother who shares in your pain,” he said.
He called on NADMO to speed up the damage assessment process to ensure timely assistance for those affected. Although he had already witnessed the impact firsthand, the MP stressed the importance of a detailed report to facilitate better coordination and support mobilization.
In response to the crisis, Frank Asiedu Bekoe launched a relief initiative dubbed “Help Roof Suhum”, aimed at galvanizing support from individuals, NGOs, and corporate bodies to assist in re-roofing damaged homes and restoring hope to the victims.
“This is the time for all of us sons and daughters of Suhum, businesses, and development partners to show love and solidarity. Let us rise together and help roof Suhum,” he appealed.
The MP’s visit and the newly launched campaign underscore ongoing efforts to bring relief to affected families and rebuild the affected communities.
