Super Clash: Hearts of Oak poised to beat Asante Kotoko
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

Hearts of Oak will attempt to revive their fading aspirations as far as this season is concerned when they host Asante Kotoko at the Accra Sports Stadium in the first Super Clash game of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League.

The Phobians, defending champions of the league title go into the game to put the brakes on their arch-rivals who have taken a 12 point lead on the table.

Asante Kotoko currently lead the table with 36 points whilst Hearts of Oak is placed eighth on the league table with 24 points.

In their last game, the Porcupine Warriors eased past Accra Lions  3-1 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Hearts of Oak also held Real Tamale United to a stalemate at the Tamale Sports Stadium.

Ahead of the big game on Sunday, the National Sports Authority (NSA) has confirmed that only 25 per cent capacity will be permitted for the game in accordance with COVID-19 protocols and restrictions.

“Due to the high demand in the game, we anticipate that too many people will gather around the stadium, trying to force their way in. We experienced that in the game between Hearts of Oak and Great Olympics last season. A gate was eventually rammed. If we open it up to admit more people, we can afford a repeat of a similar incident,”  Charles Amofah, the NSA PRO said.

The Ghana Football Association has printed 9,200 tickets, representing 25% of the 40,000 capacity stadium, which they have handed to the NSA for onward distribution and sales.

Hearts of Oak emerged winners against Asante Kotoko  at the Accra Sports Stadium last season in the Ghana Premier League.
