The stage is set for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) to kick off on Friday, October 29 with newly promoted side Accra Lions facing Elmina Sharks at home in the first game of the season.
The new season is said to experience new changes which include the introduction of five substitutions after the board reached an agreement with all 18 clubs.
This decision is with regards to the opportunity given to clubs across the globe by FIFA’s governing body, International Football Association Board (IFAB) to increase substitutes to protect the welfare of players ahead of congested fixtures due to the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic.

However, Premier League clubs will have three attempts to introduce the five substitutes in a game, following in the footsteps of elite leagues like La Liga, Serie A, EPL among others.
Clubs are expected to register up to 40 players and 10 of the players should be below age 17. A match-day squad will have 20 players previously 18 with 9 substitutes on the bench instead of 7.
