Telecel Ghana capped off its Care & Wellbeing Month with its annual signature fitness and wellness competition, Fusion. For the tenth consecutive year, Telecel Ghana’s flagship wellness sports competition brought together nine internal functions for an exciting showcase of fitness, teamwork, and spirited camaraderie.

While the event was celebrated simultaneously across Telecel Ghana’s key hubs nationwide, the main event took place at the Burma Camp Sports Complex in Accra, with employees in other regions joining the excitement from their respective venues.

From the classic lime-and-spoon race and volleyball to the tug of peace, weightlifting, and the highly spirited 100m and 400m relays, the energy and excitement among the teams were unmatched.

This year’s Fusion concluded in a friendly inter-departmental competition, where the Sales and Distribution team emerged as overall winners, with the Commercial Operations team taking second place and the Technology team finishing third.

Throughout Wellbeing Month, employees participated in a range of health-focused activities, including breast cancer screenings, cervical and prostate cancer awareness webinars, and the Move More Challenge, which encouraged staff to focus on moving more and if possible, to integrate regular sports activity into their daily routines.

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of Telecel Ghana, Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai echoed the telco’s commitment to foster a culture that values both performance and personal wellbeing. “At Telecel Ghana, we believe that success goes beyond setting performance targets, it starts with caring for our people. The growth of our business is deeply connected to the overall wellbeing of our employees. That’s why every October, during CARE Month, we not only focus on delivering exceptional service to our customers but also champion physical, emotional, and financial wellness for our teams,” she stated.

Regional celebrations mirrored the main event, uniting staff across the country. Employees in the Ashanti Region gathered at the Adum Exchange, while others convened at Obour Tabiri Site in the Eastern Region, Ho RS Yard in the Volta Region, and Monkey Hill in Takoradi for the Western and Central Regions. Additional gatherings were held at Postal Yard in the Bono/Ahafo Region, Dreams Fitness Centre in the Northern Region, Ramzy Park in the Upper East Region, and the Wa Tennis Court in the Upper West Region.

The Human Resource Director at Telecel Ghana, Rachael Appenteng emphasised the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. “Wellbeing Month is a powerful reminder that when we take care of ourselves, we show up stronger for our work, our families, and each other. Through signature initiatives like Fusion, we promote physical activity, sharpen focus, and create space for employees to recharge. Over the years, Fusion has grown beyond an event; it’s part of our culture. It unites us, energizes us, and reinforces a core belief: our wellbeing is the foundation of our success” she said.

Ms. Appenteng noted that Fusion continues to be one of the most anticipated events of the year, bringing together employees from all parts of the country to celebrate wellness and unity.

With more than ten years of promoting fitness, teamwork, and well-being through Fusion, Telecel Ghana continues to demonstrate its commitment to encouraging a workplace culture where health, happiness, and productivity thrive.
