Telecel Ghana, a leading telecommunications company, celebrated the Homowo Festival with donations and a community focused HealthFest initiative, offering free health screening to residents of Bukom in Accra.

These events exemplify Telecel Ghana’s commitment to empowering communities and fostering well-being.

The HealthFest initiative, led by the Telecel Ghana Foundation, is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access for underserved communities across Ghana. The event featured a wide range of services, including free health screenings, consultations, and the distribution of medication for conditions such as Malaria, Hepatitis B, Diabetes, and HIV/AIDS.

Rita Agyeiwaa Rockson, Head of the Telecel Ghana Foundation, Sustainability, and External Communications emphasized the importance of this initiative. She said “we are excited to partner with the Ga Traditional Council for this particular HealthFest. The initiative is more than just a medical outreach; it’s about empowering communities to live healthier lives. By bringing these services directly to the heart of the Homowo Festival, we’re making healthcare accessible and fostering a stronger, healthier community.”

The event at Bukom Park received an overwhelming response, with about 400 community members benefiting from medical screenings and more than 1,300 NHIS registrations. This initiative held bi-monthly in various regions, targets communities with limited healthcare access, reinforcing the Foundation’s commitment to improving health outcomes nationwide.

Beyond healthcare services, Telecel Ghana’s donations demonstrated the company’s unwavering dedication to supporting local communities during the Homowo Festival. This contribution not only addressed immediate needs but also highlighted the organization’s holistic approach to community engagement.

Richmond Sedor, Executive Head for Accra West at Telecel Ghana, expressed pride in the company’s ongoing efforts: “At Telecel Ghana, we believe that our responsibility extends beyond providing telecommunications services. We are committed to being an active partner in the communities we serve.”

Lydia Agyei-Tutu, Regional PRO for the National Health Insurance Authority, also praised Telecel Ghana stating, “We are grateful to Telecel Ghana Foundation for this wonderful initiative. The turnout at Bukom Park shows the crucial role that HealthFest is playing in promoting health and wellness across Ghana. Their additional support during the Homowo Festival further highlights their commitment to the well-being of our communities.”

Telecel Ghana continues to be a beacon of positive change, blending healthcare innovation with community-driven efforts through its Foundation.

The success of the free health screening and community support initiatives at the Homowo Festival exemplifies the organization’s ongoing mission to uplift the lives of Ghanaians, one community at a time.
