The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has announced that parts of the Western and Ashanti Regions, particularly Kumasi and Tarkwa, may experience temporary power outages due to damage to a section of the 161 kV Aboadze Tarkwa transmission line.

In a statement, the Ministry confirmed that the damaged line, which is managed by the Ghana Grid Company Ltd. (GRIDCo), has affected the transmission of electricity to parts of the country. A maintenance team has been dispatched and is currently on-site, working urgently to carry out repairs.

“The maintenance team has been swiftly deployed and is currently at the location, working diligently to repair the line as quickly as possible,” the statement noted.

Ongoing technical assessments are being conducted to determine the full extent of the damage and to expedite the restoration of power supply.

Preliminary findings indicate that Kumasi and Tarkwa are the most likely to be affected by the disruption during the repair period. The Ministry assures the public that all necessary steps are being taken to restore full transmission capacity in the shortest possible time.
