The head of Public Relations at the Rent Control Department, Emmanuel Xoxe Kporsu has advised tenants to request a tenancy agreement from landlords before renting a room or house.
According to him, the tenancy agreement guides the tenants on how to live peacefully with their landlords.
In an interview with Kwadwo Sefah Dankwa on Happy 98.9 FMs morning show, Emmanuel stated that tenancy agreements also help tenants and landlords for each of them to know their responsibilities to avoid any interference and misunderstanding.
“It is even more advisable to have the tenancy agreement for the tenants to know whether he or she can abide by it or not before making payment for the rent”.
“Without a tenancy agreement, the landlord can just bring up any regulation at any point in time, which can even violate the right of the tenant”, he emphasized.
