The Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association, has refused to join the Ghana Union Traders Association (GUTA) on the planned demonstration on August 29, 2022 by shutting their shops over the depreciating of the cedi.
Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Concerned Spare Parts Dealers Association, Takyi Addo, says they will not join GUTA as they (GUTA) have looked on for the government to destroy the country’s economy within a space of six (6) year.
“We don’t agree with GUTA and we will not join their demonstration by closing our shops. GUTA never took steps to save our businesses. Our businesses are already collapsing and they now want us to close our shops for their personal interests? No, we won’t do it,” he submitted in an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show.
According to him, spare part dealers will go hungry if they think of closing their shops to join the GUTA demonstration even for a minute.
“GUTA wants to use the rest of us to get what they want but that will not happen. GUTA has looked on for the dollar to pass 10 cedis. If we close our shops we will lose money so we will not join the demonstration,” he clearly stated.
The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), says members of the union will move to shut their shops on Monday if the government makes no effort in stabilizing the cedi.

According to them, the rapid fall of the Cedi is having a negative impact on their businesses, hence their decision to stage the protest.
