International football scout Kofi Bawuah believes the aspirant GFA Presidential candidate is unfit to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi as president of the Ghana Football Association because he has done nothing to merit the position
The immediate-past FA Vice President came under barrage of criticisms by the Association Members when he declared his intention clear to contest for the 2019 GFA presidential election.
Speaking to Ohene-Brenya on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Bawuah lambasted the Liberty Professionals Director for seeking such a high position – claiming that he’s not carved a niche for himself as the rightful successor of Kwesi Nyantakyi’s throne, though he pointed that the nation’s football governing body head should not have felt betrayed by Afriyie’s declaration.
“What has George Afriyie done for Ghana football thinking he is the right person to succeed Kwesi Nyantakyi, are they not from the same boat?
“Ghana football is not for Kwesi Nyantakyi or George Afriyie. If someone betrays you and so what?
Mr Afriyie was relieved of his post as Black Stars Management Committee chairman weeks after declaring his intention to contest for the Ghana Football Association vice president before he was yanked as the FA’s vice.
Afriyie was handpicked by President Kwesi Nyantakyi in 2014 but has been at loggerheads with his boss the last three years.
