Egypt and Liverpool hero Mohamed Salah has missed out as UEFA announced their shortlist for the candidates to claim the awards for the best players in season 2018/2019.

Salah recently managed to make the list for FIFA Player of the Year for the second year in a row after winning the Premier League top scorer award and guiding his club to a historic Champions League title.

The 27-year-old winger clinched the English Premier League Golden Boot for two successive years after finishing on the top of the goalscoring chart in the past two seasons.

UEFA published their report regarding the best for 2018/2019, and Salah arrived fourth behind club teammates Sadio Mane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi for the best forward.

In midfield, Frenkie De Jong, Christian Eriksen and Jordan Henderson were nominated. While in defense, Alexander-Arnold, Matthijs De Ligt and Virgil Van Dijk are the candidates.
