Volta Regional RFA chairman Daniel Agbobah has confirmed that referee chief Philip Nii Teye Lomotey died shortly after collapsing during the finals of the 2022/23 Volta Division 2 at the Ho Sports Stadium, as no ambulance was available.
He confirmed this exclusively to Happy Sports.
According to the RFA chairperson, despite the absence of an ambulance during arguably the region’s biggest club football event, the National Red Cross Society was on hand.
He stated that attempts by the National Red Cross Society present to revive Philip Nii Teye Lomotey worked and he was responding before he was moved to the hospital.
Mr. Lomotey, who is also a Police Inspector was seated in the VIP stands during the final between Home Stars and Inter Allies where he collapsed.
The deceased was the chairman of the Ho District Referees Association of Ghana. He was also an instructor at the Regional Police Training School in Ho.
