Watch out for Ghana Powerlifting Federation – President
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

The sudden demise of the Ghana Powerlifting Federation’s President Goodwill Joseph Kwame Agyeman in June last year was a big blow to the Federation which has left athletes stranded in their quest to put Ghana on the pedestal for the world recognition of the sport in their region.

This has made the Federation have challenges making it difficult for its athletes to have the proper training to be competitive on the African continent and on the world stage at large.

In the wake of these events, the Federation’s founder Mr. Peter Adjei who is also the Acting President has been motivated to relaunch the Federation to help give a new face to it so as to make the powerlifters realize their dream in their field of operations.

Happy Sports can confirm that the powerlifting Federation will bounce back soon and the sport will be put back on its feet to compete for mother Ghana as Mr. Adjei hints “watch out for powerlifting”.

Ghana Powerlifting Federation (GPF) was established on August 9th, 2013 by 9 founding members including but not limited to Mr. Peter Adjei, the Late Godwin Agyemang, Roger Pannah, Ignatius Elletey, Edward Oppong Dankwah among others.

In 2014 Barrack Kwakye aka Obama won a Gold medal in the Benchpress 93kg class in Algeria during the 2014 African Powerlifting and Benchpress Championship.

The likes of Julian Arko and others have all competed on international stages for Ghana.
