The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued a heartfelt apology to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025.

The announcement, made via an official press release, acknowledged the deep disappointment felt across the nation and pledged to address the shortcomings that led to this outcome.

The GFA expressed regret over the team’s inability to meet the high expectations of its passionate supporters.

“We share in the pain and sadness of our beloved fans,” the statement read.

To address the situation, the GFA Executive Council convened on November 20, 2024, and announced key decisions aimed at reforming Ghana’s football landscape:

1. Dissolution of the Black Stars Management Committee: The current committee has been dissolved, with the GFA thanking members for their service over the years.

2. Review of the Technical Team: Head Coach Otto Addo is scheduled to meet with the Executive Council on November 27, 2024, to present his technical report on the failed AFCON campaign and discuss the overall performance of the technical team.

In a bid to chart a new course, the GFA will host a Ghana Football Retreat on November 28, 2024, at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence.

The retreat will bring together key stakeholders, including sports officials, former players, coaches, traditional leaders, and representatives from the Ministries of Sports, Finance, and Education.

The event aims to gather diverse perspectives and develop a comprehensive roadmap for revitalizing the Black Stars and other national teams.
