Vice President and Presidential Aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has asked delegates of the party to vote for someone who will ensure the party retains power in the 2024 general elections. He urged that should be the utmost priority of the delegates.

He asserted that the party needs a candidate with expertise and a proven track record in government, not merely a rich man if it hopes to “break the 8” in the electoral system.

According to Dr. Bawumia, the party requires a candidate with an innovative mindset who can contribute to the growth of Ghana.

“As we go for the presidential primaries. We need someone who can help us retain power We need a selfless leader to lead the party and not a richer man. We need someone who has humility. We need someone who has a track record. We need someone who has the temperament. We need someone who has innovative ideas and has tolerance for everyone.”

Dr. Bawumia further noted that he has experience fighting John Dramani Maham, the NDC’s nominee.

He believes he can defeat the former president once more in the 2024 elections because he has previously defeated him.

“If you look at all of us the ten aspirants, I have the political experience in campaigning and winning elections against John Mahama. I have beaten him twice already and I know how to defeat him again in the 2024 elections.”

This comes after Kennedy Agyapong criticized Dr. Bawumia for referring to himself as a strategist although Ghana under his rule Ghana has experienced unprecedented currency depreciation and has been enrolled in the IMF program.
