We don't trust the EC to adequately respond to our requests- Osman Ayariga

Deputy National Youth Organizer, of the National Democratic Congress NDC, Osman Ayariga, has disclosed why his party went ahead with their recent ‘Enough is Enough’ protest.

Speaking in an interview he emphatically stated that the NDC no longer has any trust in the EC that if, they were simply to hand over their concerns to them all these concerns can be corrected.
“That’s why we’re calling for a stakeholders platform. We’re calling for a forensic audit so that every stakeholder every actor in this election be it the NPP, NDC, CPP, APC or the EC themselves or the independent bodies, let’s sit together, bring your representatives so we can look through the register one after the other so it can all be corrected at once so we all can agree and have a consensus as the register we’re taking into the election” he explained.

According to him, the first time they raised concerns they presented evidence but they didn’t do that this time because the EC said it was mere propaganda.
“So we needed to prove to the EC that it was not mere propaganda. What we just gave was just a tip of the iceberg to prove to the EC”, he added.

Osman emphasized that, the NDC was able to provide evidence, first time and the second time the EC asked that they provide evidence, they decided to go with the media but the EC declined to see them with the media.
“They said they’re not ready to meet us with the media. We wanted the entire world to see the width of the discrepancies and abnormalities in the register the, but the EC was not ready to meet us and the media yet, they wanted to meet us behind closed doors and we also weren’t ready to meet behind closed doors” he added.

He stated that, because the weight of the evidence and the discrepancies they had were so heavy, they agreed that the entire register needed to be audited in a forensic manner which the EC declined hence their decision to protest.
