The leadership of the Ghana Law Students Representative Council have said that the act by the Ghana Police Service on demonstrators was uncalled for as they obtained the license to demonstrate on the 7th of October, 2019.

Speaking on Happy FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” show with Nana Afrifa Mensah, The Former SRC President and the current vice SRC President  of the Ghana School of law mentioned that they “fulfilled all legal requirements”.

Jennifer Fafali Degbor, the vice SRC President of the Ghana School of Law said: “If the police did not want us to demonstrate, they needed an injunction to stop us. But since they had no injunction, we had the right to carry on with the demonstration”.

The former SRC President of the Ghana School of Law, Kobby Amoah added that they will appreciate the President’s intervention in the matter confronting Law students.

He also mentioned that the students of the Ghana Law School will hold a press conference to address the reforms that is needed to stabilize legal education in Ghana.

The demonstration that was staged by students of the Ghana School of Law was characterized by violence as they had a clash with the police who fired rubber bullets and showered water from their cannons.
