The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it accepts the ruling of the High Court for the Electoral Commission to implement the Representative of the Peoples’ Amendment Act (ROPAA) that allows Ghanaians in the diaspora to vote in the 2020 elections.
Nobody is against Ghanaians voting in an election besides not all Ghanaians vote in every election in this country Koku Anyidoho, the Deputy General Secretary of the NDC says.
The NDC accepts the ruling of the court and we are ready to work with it if the EC starts the implementation.
The court was gracious to admitted that the election management agency was going to face challenges in its quest to implement ROPAA adding that everybody is aware it will not be easy task for the EC he expressed.
Mr. Anydoho made this comment in an interview with Kwame Afrifa-Mensah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show on Accra based –Happy FM.
The EC was going to be confronted with the practical challenges of doing its job outside adding that as it stand now the EC has no human resource so falls on teachers, immigration officers among others to help with the conduct of elections in the country.
So how was the EC going to manage the recruitment of its officers across the country he said
So, you see ROPAA will come with its attendant problems and will the EC be able to manage organizing elections abroad he argued.
Even election organization internally is fraught with delays and needless challenges so how can the EC manage this abroad he quizzes.
He said in the last elections likes of the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia went haywire claiming that Togoles nationals are on the voters’ roll and Peter Mac-Manu declaring elections  in the wee hours of the morning when everybody was fast asleep.
He said the courts are gradually setting a dangerous precedent for the EC adding that what would have happened in Ghana when elections at the polling station has been declared in favour of one particular party and the ROPAA votes arrives then the outcome start changing.
He claimed even that if the NDC marshal it forces as part of ROPA in the neighbouring Togo and the numbers keep rising during collation  what will happen in this country he questioned.
