The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has emphasized that the party’s executives will do their utmost to engage in constructive dialogue with all party members who, after losing in the party’s parliamentary primaries, have decided to run as independent candidates ahead of the December elections.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, September 10, at the party’s headquarters in Accra, Frimpong Kodua stressed that, in his view, a true patriot and loyal member of the NPP would not opt to go independent after losing primaries but would instead support the party to win power and advance its ideals. He noted that the spirit of loyalty and teamwork is essential to the party’s success and that individuals who choose to go independent may inadvertently undermine the party’s chances.

He however acknowledged that party executives will continue to reach out to those who have announced their intention to run independently, in an effort to reconcile and persuade them to rejoin the NPP and fight for power in the December elections.

He expressed hope that, until the Electoral Commission releases the ballot papers featuring the independent candidates’ names and photos, there is still a chance for these individuals to reconsider their decision and rally behind the party, ensuring a united front and maximizing the party’s potential for victory.
