The Western Regional Health Directorate has announced the oral vaccination of people within the region due to the increasing number of cholera cases.

The oral vaccination is set to begin on Sunday December 15 at various health facilities including the Kwesimintsim Hospital, RCH unit.

The oral vaccination has become important due to the number of deaths recorded so far.

The Regional Director of Health Dr. Nana Yaw Ofori Yeboah speaking to Happyghana.com confirmed that, the number of cholera cases has increased to eight hundred (800), with fourteen (14) deaths.

Dr. Ofori Yeboah mentioned that, the Ministry of Health has provided equipment and other services to hospital facilities in the region to help deal with the situation.

He has however cautioned the public to stay alert and adhere to safety protocols.

The Regional Coordinating Council earlier this week placed a ban on the sale of vegetables by food vendors as part of precautionary measures to curb the spread.
