The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, has launched a GH¢3 million project aimed at establishing an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Takoradi Hospital. The initiative was officially unveiled during a media engagement held at the Western Regional Residency.
In his address, Mr. Nelson expressed deep concern that the Western Region currently has no ICU facility in any of its hospitals, a situation he described as a major challenge to healthcare delivery in the region.
He emphasized the need for collective effort, urging corporate organizations, institutions, and residents of the Western Region to contribute towards the realization of the project. “Everyone is a potential patient, and we must all come together to make this dream a reality,” he stated.
Dr. George Preprah, the Medical Superintendent of the Takoradi Hospital, underscored the urgent need for the project, noting that the absence of an ICU contributes to preventable deaths at the facility. He appealed to the public and stakeholders to support the initiative, whether in cash or kind, to help save lives.
