Why a “Break-Up” in a relationship is justifiable

For some time now, my attention has been drawn to the general attitude towards news of ‘breakups’ and the name calling that the initiators get.( Players, flirts, Heartbreakers etc.) These are my thought on the topic.

Trust me, I’m not here to encourage and hail the act of ‘breaking up’ or putting an end to your relationship but as an optimistic individual, I always see things through the lens of optimism. Even before we talk about optimism, let’s face the fact.

You will want to ask yourself this simple question; “why do we date?”

Simply, the essence of dating is to get the opportunity to know the person more. Thus, if the person is someone you can spend the rest of your life with, great! you are blessed. If he/she isn’t, why can’t you say so and move on? Don’t pretend to please society.

Realistically, when we go to the market to buy a shoe and it doesn’t fit, what do we do? We either change it from the same seller or move on to another seller to get our preferred choice, even though they might not be happy that we have to leave, we still do.

Similarly, if someone can’t compliment you, I don’t expect you to spend your life with him/her as if you were in prison. What then is the beauty of marriage?

I am not saying it is not possible to change people to what you want them to be; I know and I have seen people do that but, that occurrence is a very rare one and time investing as well. Hence, if you don’t have the heart and strength to go through that, don’t feel bad to say it’s OVER.

I believe the creator knew/knows why he/she passed through your life. And it’s only a hypocrite that will chastise you for saying the truth.

Tomorrow is never assured, so make the most of today and that includes being happy.
