The Effutu Municipal Hospital has reported that 29 individuals have tested positive for cholera out of 356 recorded cases.

According to the hospital, one person has died, and contact tracing efforts are underway to prevent further spread. The 29 confirmed cases are from the same family in a specific area of Effutu.

The Acting Municipal Superintendent of the Efutu Municipal hospital, Dr. Douglas Amponsah stated that those infected have been isolated and are receiving treatment. He assured that the hospital is effectively managing the situation.

“So far, 29 have been confirmed with cholera out of 356 cases. Interestingly, the majority of these cases are coming from a particular area within the Winneba locality. We have confirmed two deaths, one in October 2024, and the other one happened 2025. Most of the infected persons are children and we are trying our best to deal with the situation. The children are responding well that is the good news,” he said.
