Ghanaian spiritualist Nana Agyei Boafo Sunsum Kesse has stated that witchcraft is seen as what it is today due to the selfish attitude of human beings.

In an interview on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Morning Show, with host Sammy Eshun, he stated that before technology and modernization, witchcraft was a normal way of life. He explained that things that are done via technology in today’s world were simply done by witchcraft in the olden days.

The researcher acknowledged the literal translation of the word ‘beyie’ in Akan which means ‘coming well’ or ‘coming at the right time’ as depicting the whole nature of witchcraft. He described witchcraft as help that always comes to mankind at the right time.

“In the olden days people loved each other and helped one another but, in our days, in this generation, people love possessions and properties than their fellow human beings so there is no feeling of empathy or that urge to help so no help can come; it has rather been replaced with wickedness.” he expounded as the reason the act of witchcraft is placed in a bad light in today’s world.

This comes after recent news reports of a 38-year-old lady, who was accused of witchcraft by one prophetess Mary Esther, who allegedly saw a bird turn into the lady through witchcraft in Gomoa Mampong in the Central region of Ghana.

The claims were debunked by a family member of the victim who identified the lady as Abena on the Happy Morning Show.

The leader of the Deeper Church International who is currently in police custody was arrested for questioning and investigation on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, by the Gomoa Dominase District Police and charged with false alarm.
