Women keep SIGA on its feet – Amb. Edward Boateng

Director-General of State Interest and Governance Authority, (SIGA) H.E Ambassador Edward Boateng has credited the successes chalked by SIGA to the capable women who assist him in running the institution.

“At SIGA we are very privileged to have several women in leadership roles. Actually, my two deputies are both women; the General Manager, Finance and Administration; Ms. Alexandra Totoe and General Manager for Operations; Hollistar Duah-Yentumi .I am very privileged to have these two as my pillars, ” he said during a televised solidarity message to women as the world marks International Women’s Day.

He also recounted the role his mother played in shaping him into what he is today and acknowledged the many women who he has worked with in his professional life spanning decades.

“My first boss was my mother, she gave me my very first job and throughout my career I have had the opportunity to work with some very wonderful women who shaped my thinking and my approach to life” he stated.

H.E Ambassador Edward Boateng added that SIGA boasts of about 51% workforce being women playing diverse and critical roles in the institution.

“Generally I believe women are more meticulous and diligent with work, they pay attention to details and I believe as a state we need to push more women into leadership positions because they have a lot to offer” he said.

With these years’ theme seeking to highlight the role of innovative technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls, he used the opportunity to encourage upcoming young women to aspire and work hard to become great people in the near future.

“On this day, 8th of March 2023, the UN has themed International Women’s Day as a digital year; innovation and technology for gender equality. Technology is levelling the field, and I will encourage all young girls to pursue great aspirations. Today, the glass celing has been shattered by a lot of women; they’ve paved the way for all of you, and I’m encouraging you all to dream big and have big aspirations” he admonished

Every year on 8 March, International Women’s Day is celebrated to commemorate and honour women’s accomplishments, raise awareness about gender disparities and discrimination, as well as promote global support for women.
