Former Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has criticized the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Ghana Police Service for what he described as unprofessional conduct.
Addressing the Yɛn Suro Ahunahuna demonstration on Tuesday, September 23, Dr. Okoe Boye stressed that the police play a vital role in ensuring national peace and stability.
According to him, the police are supposed to remain neutral, without bias toward political affiliation or ethnicity. However, he argued that when the Police is used to target specific groups, it undermines peace in the country.
He questioned why an NPP member alleged to have committed an offence was handcuffed, photographed, and had the images circulated among NDC members for social media publication, treating him as though he were a hardened criminal.
Dr. Okoe Boye further asked why Ghanaians were never shown the faces of individuals who caused chaos during the Ablekuma North re-run.
To him, this selective approach to justice clearly shows that the IGP and the police are not acting professionally.
