YFM, Ghana’s foremost urban and youth-oriented radio station, has commemorated this year’s World Youth Day which is celebrated on the 12th of August globally.

Speaking on the celebration, Programmes Manager of Y 107.9FM Eddy Blay, explained the rationale behind the celebration; ‘’the youth need to be celebrated every day for their contribution to the development agenda of Ghana. For a brand committed to the youth and their well-being, we are thrilled to recount how we have contributed to shaping the future of the Ghanaian youth, our talent development initiatives like Area Codes continue to unearth and expose the Ghanaian youth to the world.”

The Programmes Manager for Y 97.9FM, Agyekum Gyimah, on his part enumerated the programmes and initiatives that YFM designs especially for the youth. ‘’We don’t just say we are the number one youth station in Ghana in words but also in deeds. If you take a look at Y Dialogues, its core aim is to help the youth through career development. YCE and Y Army brings together young people to network, and do good for society. The Y Army Takoradi chapter for example supported Kith Care Home with essential items amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The Y Army has taught me what determined and purpose driven young people can achieve,’’ he said.

Nathaniel Osei Kuffour who is the Programmes Manager for Y 102.5FM, added that being the number one music station is not only for unearthing talents, but also contributing to the general well-being of the youth.

‘’You can enjoy music without thinking because it is a universal form of entertainment. Without any doubt, music is the most important art form. COVID-19 came with a lot of challenges, but we kept our audience base educated through our YZZ Up campaign, entertained through infinity Jam. We also boast of the most vibrant and young presenters and DJs in the country,’’ he stated.

YFM is the most listened to urban radio in Ghana with over 1500 online streams daily.
