Programmes Manager of Takoradi’s No.1 English and No.1 Youth Station, Y97.9FM, Chelsy Sey, has dominated the Western Sector of Ghana after emerging as ‘Best Radio Personality – Western Sector 2025’ at the 15th Goldbond RTP Awards.
The prestigious awards ceremony, held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), saw Chelsy Sey receive the coveted regional award amid thunderous applause from media moguls, industry players, and distinguished personalities present.
The win further cements Chelsy Sey’s influence and impact within the Western Regional media landscape, positioning her as one of the most formidable and pace-setting radio personalities in the region.
Reacting to her victory, an elated Chelsy Sey expressed gratitude to her listeners, team, and mentors.
“This award is deeply humbling. It represents the hard work, late nights, and passion we bring to radio every day. I dedicate this win to my amazing listeners in the Western Region, my YFM Takoradi family, and everyone who believes in authentic youth-driven radio,” she said.

Director of Global Media Alliance Broadcasting Company (GMABC), Dr. Timothy Karikari, also praised Chelsy Sey’s achievement, describing it as well deserved.

“Chelsy Sey’s win is a reflection of her consistency, leadership, and strong connection with audiences. At GMABC, we take pride in nurturing talents who redefine radio and inspire excellence across regions. This recognition affirms the quality of work we stand for,” he stated.

Chelsy Sey’s triumph at the RTP Awards adds to YFM’s growing legacy of excellence and reinforces the station’s dominance as a leading force in youth-centred and urban radio broadcasting in Ghana. The station continues to dominate the English audience market in addition to the youth and urban radio listenership market in the Western Region. A member of the Global Media Alliance Broadcast Group, Y97.9FM continues to break barriers and in its 14th year, cemented what it means to be the station dedicated to young audiences in the region.

With 73% of Ghanaians aged 35 and below, the YFM Ghana brand continues to dominate music, entertainment, youth, and urban programming across all its markets. In Kumasi and Takoradi, YFM holds the number one position even within the broader English-language radio category, while in Accra the brand dominates the youth and urban segment and competes aggressively for the number two position in the English-language market.
