Ghana Premier League side Young Apostles FC has issued a statement distancing the club from recent remarks made by Samuel Anim Addo, a club official, regarding officiating in the league.

Anim Addo, a seasoned football administrator, had accused referee Maxwell Hanson of being the GFA’s “man for dirty works” after complaints arose about Hanson’s officiating during Accra Lions’ 1-0 loss to Dreams FC.

He further alleged that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) had threatened to relegate Young Apostles following his criticism of officiating standards.

In response, Young Apostles released a statement clarifying Anim Addo’s position within the club and categorically dissociating themselves from his comments.

The statement read:
“Young Apostles wish to clarify that recent statements made by Mr. Samuel Anim Addo (Club Official/Member) on social media directed at the Ghana Football Association do not reflect the views or opinions of our club. We strongly disassociate ourselves from these comments and any sentiments therein.”

Meanwhile, the GFA has cited Anim Addo for misconduct, saying his remarks have brought the league into disrepute. The Disciplinary Committee has given Anim Addo until Monday, January 13, 2025, to formally respond.
