WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has reaffirmed his desire to take over the reins of CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko if he’s given the nod by Manhyia.
This makes it the second time Hon. Baah Agyemang, a sports marketing consultant, is expressing interest in the Kotoko job after making his initial advances when Dr. K.K Sarpong left his position as executive chairman of the club a couple of years ago.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports with PJ Mozee, Hon. Baah Agyemang, who doubles as a member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Youth, Sports and Culture revealed that he’s been cleared by parliament already to hold a position of profit hence he is ready to steer affairs of the club if he’s handed the responsibility from Manhyia.
“I once expressed interest in running the affairs of Kotoko when Dr. K.K Sarpong left and as it stands now, if i’m offered the position of CEO of this great club, I will readily accept the offer. If you are an Ashanti and Manhyia calls you to serve, who are you to refuse? Moreover, I am a dye-in-the-wool Kotoko fan so I will gladly accept the offer if it’s handed to me.” Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang told Happy FM.
He further disclosed that he has already got clearance from parliament to hold a position of profit hence he is ready for the position any time it comes calling.
“If you’re a parliamentarian and you want to hold a position of profit, you need clearance from parliament and I have already done that. You know I’m a sports marketing consultant so I sought clearance from parliament when I got voted into office and with that, I can easily take up the CEO position of Kotoko without having any hindrance from parliament.” Hon. Baah Agyemang added.
