Former sports minister and deputy fingered in NSA judgment debt

Former Sports minister Mustapha Ahmed and his deputy Vincent Oppong-Asamoah have been fingered over a judgment debt on the National Sports Authority.
The duo are deemed to have awarded a contract meant for Litina Travel and Tours to another travel agency when Litina has won the contract after the bidding process.
According to the court ruling, the prices of Litina Travel and Tours for the contract of airlifting Ghana’s contingent for the 2015 All Africa Games, were far lower but both the minister and his deputy disregarded the process and awarded the contract to another agency whose prices were much higher and hence a cost of $380,000 was awarded against the National Sports Authority.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports, Joshua Mensah a deputy director at the NSA who was part of the board who chose Litina Travel and Tours as the winner of the bidding process corroborated the report.
“I was part of the board who scrutinized the bidding process and Litina Travel and Tours was the agency that we chose because their offer was the best and cheaper but the contract was later awarded to another travel agency whose prices were higher by the then sports minister Mustapha Ahmed and his deputy Vincent Oppong Asamoah against all advice so Litina took the case to court and the National Sports Authority was slapped with a cost of $380,000. They came and took our bus away for being in default. It is a bus which is used by the various federations when they have assignments.” Mr. Mensah told Happy FM.
