The Vodafone Ghana Music Awards were handed out Saturday at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The show, which honours Ghanaian artiste and celebrate original Ghanaian music, saw 25 awards being given to deserving artistes.
Joe Mettle became the first Gospel musician to win the ultimate award, “Artiste of the Year”. He won two other awards; “Gospel Artiste of the Year” and “Best Male Vocalist”.
In addition, Paapa Yankson was given the “Lifetime Achievement Awards” for his contribution to the High life Industry.
Surprise performance by M.anifest, Kofi Kinata, Stoneboy and Sarkodie rocked the event ground.
The “Onwanwani” hitmaker made history last night by becoming the first Gospel musician to be crown the over-all “Artiste of the Year” at a ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
